Appeal accepted only in part
Following the order issued by the Piedmont Regional Administrative Court (First Section) on the appeal filed by environmental associations, Guido Dellarovere, President of Federcaccia Piemonte, intervenes to clarify the contents of the precautionary measure and the operational provisions relating to the 2026-2027 hunting season. The Piedmont Regional Administrative Court rejected the request for a general suspension of the Hunting Calendar approved by the Regional Council, confirming the soundness of the overall structure of the measure and the validity of the technical reasons provided by the Region.
The prescriptions
The partial acceptance of the precautionary request by the administrative judge concerns only two specific requirements:
Skylark: In compliance with the ISPRA findings cited in the ordinance, the hunting limits are reduced from 10 to 5 animals per day and from 50 to 25 animals per season for each hunter.
Rock Ptarmigan: The suspension of hunting is ordered and the consequent closure of hunting for this species in the region.
Valid system
"The Piedmont Regional Administrative Court's order confirms the substance and validity of the general framework of our Hunting Calendar, rejecting attempts to paralyze hunting activity in our region," states Guido Dellarovere. "We acknowledge the Court's recommendations regarding the skylark and the rock ptarmigan, promptly adapting the provisions to ensure full compliance with the rules and maximum wildlife protection, pending the hearing on the merits scheduled for November 19th."
FIDC's position
"Once again," continues President Dellarovere, "the work done by the Piedmont Region and hunting associations is demonstrated to be excellent, given that the vast majority of the provisions have been fully upheld and confirmed by the Regional Administrative Court. These appeals, filed punctually each year by environmental groups, are revealed for what they are: mere whims, born solely and exclusively to damage the sector and obstruct hunting." "These are ideological actions that completely disregard the goodness and value of the social work hunters perform throughout the year, primarily to contain invasive species and protect the environment. All of this demonstrates the level of acrimony towards the hunting world: appeals of this kind have no real value in favor of animals, but merely represent pure political demagogy," concludes Dellarovere (Federcaccia Piemonte).
