Optimal resting point
In this new video We can admire garganeys resting in a permanent hunting lake located in the Umbria Region. Prenuptial migration is underway, and these natural habitats created by hunters offer resting and feeding spots for birds passing through Italy on their way to their breeding grounds in northeastern Europe and Siberia. Permanent hunting lakes allow migrating birds to find suitable areas in settings that are almost always agricultural or otherwise exploited by humans. Consequently, they increase the biological value of our territory, preventing intensive agriculture or human activity from taking over, thus further reducing the biodiversity of the Italian territory as a whole.

An already known concept
Based on these positive examples, Federcaccia calls on institutions to embrace a concept already familiar from ecology textbooks: hunting as a conservation tool. This concept can be immediately applied to the Restoration Law and CAP measures.
Improving natural habitats
Federcaccia hopes to establish an institutional dialogue as soon as possible to achieve the common goal of improving natural habitats in Italy, including through these successful examples achieved by hunters (source: Federcaccia).
