Chronic emergency
On Wednesday 4 December 2024, the Regional Council of Puglia adopted the Extraordinary Regional Plan for the management and containment of wild fauna in this territory, in particular with regard to the wild boar species (Sus scrofa) which represents a chronic emergency.
Damage to crops and more
This is a planning tool necessary to manage the wild boar species which, by multiplying excessively in the Apulian territory, causes damage to agricultural crops, wildlife heritage, zoo-agroforestry activities and production, also in consideration of the potential spread of the so-called "swine fever".
Never-ending raids
Just a month ago, Coldiretti Puglia raised the alarm regarding wild boar raids in the BAT, with more and more wild animals hunting for water and food, a situation that pushed the agricultural association to ask for a strong acceleration of the extraordinary containment plan.
