The Regional Council of the Puglia, following the receipt of the favorable opinion of ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), has approved the Extraordinary Regional Plan for the management and containment of wild fauna in Puglia of the wild boar species.
Agricultural crops
This is a programmatic document for the management of a species that could cause damage to agricultural crops, wildlife heritage and zoo-agroforestry activities and production, an emergency that unfortunately does not only concern this territory.
Claims risk
The strategic objectives of the Plan concern the reduction of the impacts caused by wild boars on agricultural production, livestock farming, human activities and manufactured goods, the risks of road accidents involving the species, the impacts caused by wild boars on species and natural habitats and the reduction of the risks of interaction between wild and domestic specimens (source: Puglia Region).
