Hunting: Puglia, meeting in the Region on the new Hunting Calendar; the document brings together all the Hunting and Environmental Associations but not all ...
Given the strong opposition of all time, the (almost) unitary document makes news with which yesterday at least one of the games concerning the regulation of hunting in Puglia was concluded. At the table convened by the competent councilor, Fabrizio Nardoni, an axis never seen before - at least not with this evidence - was created between the hunters' associations (Anuu, Arci Caccia, Eps, Fidc, Anlc, Enal Caccia, Italcaccia) and those environmentalists (Legambiente, Wwf, Italian animalists, Enpa, Italia Nostra, Lac, Lav). The only one to oppose and not to comply with the "will" of the participants at the table was Lipu, the Italian League for the protection of birds. For the rest, on the 2015 calendar and program, the point of understanding comes when it is agreed to limit the number of supplementary dates to four, to be decided "at will", compared to the regular hunting season in Puglia which, 'year like last year, it will unfold, starting from 21 September 2014, until 31 January 2015. Supplementary dates mean those "unscheduled" determined by the meteorological and climatic conditions, which often affect, usually delaying them, the migratory flows of some species passing birds in our region.
The unified document could act as a barrier to further changes in progress. Last year, in order not to go too far in time, the document issued by the hunting technical committee was substantially modified when it was examined by the regional council. But the debate, when it comes to hunting, is still open. To mention one this morning, on the agenda of the Regional Council, there would also be some changes to the Apulian law on hunting.
But the proposed amendments, conveyed through the activity of some regional councilors, are so many and the time to examine them is so short, that it is not difficult to foresee a postponement of the discussion to another date. The amount of changes (under the amendments we read the signature of the councilors Michele Losappio of Left Ecology and Freedom, Nino Marmo of Forza Italia, Francesco Ladommada of La Puglia for Vendola) is such that yesterday, in the discussion table between environmental associations, associations hunting and the heads of the regional department, it was not even possible to start the examination.
Furthermore, the discussion was orphaned by the rapporteur of the law, the Pd regional councilor, Donato Pentassuglia, president of the V council commission (Ecology, Protection of the Territory and Natural Resources, Soil Defense, Natural Resources, Urban Planning, Public Works, Transport, Construction Residential), in the meantime summoned to replace the outgoing councilor for health policies, Elena Gentile, elected to the European Parliament.
Among the issues that are a source of discussion in Puglia, for example, the extension of hunting for wild boar, a non-native species, introduced a few years ago for repopulation that at the moment has assumed dimensions that are difficult to tolerate due to the damage caused to the territory, should also be noted. Another issue related to tolerability and damage (in this case also of a sanitary nature) is determined by the proliferation of wood pigeons, a species that could also be extended in this case among those that can be hunted.
