A 41-year-old hunter from Catania was injured following the explosion of the hunting rifle with which he tried to shoot during a hunting trip together with three other friends in the countryside of Scicli, in the province of Ragusa. It was supposed to be a relaxing day in the midst of nature after a week of work for the four hunters from Catania who had taken to Sampieri and Scicli for a hunting trip but the tragedy came close. Around 13.00 pm one of the hunters took up the cal. 12 superimposed on one of the hunting companions to test it and with this he fired a shot but on this occasion the weapon exploded in his hands. The explosion of the cartridge, presumably defective or too powerful for the type of rifle, caused a gash in the case of about eleven centimeters in the part of the case, right in the area contested by the XNUMX-year-old hunter who was injured in his left hand.
The man was immediately rescued by his hunting companions who proceeded to transport him to the Emergency Department of the Ospedale Maggiore in Modica where the specialists subjected the hunter to a delicate surgery on his injured hand; the recovery prognosis drawn up by the orthopedists and forty days except for complications with severe hand compromise.
The men of the Modica State Police Commissioner investigate the incident; It will be necessary to establish the causes of the explosion, if attributable to a defect in the weapon, cartridges or the use of cartridges that are too powerful for the model of rifle used.
