Strongly wanted by Coldiretti, the first is now finally active Provincial Boar Control Plan a Ravenna which allows farmers to also implement the self-defense method on land owned or managed. An important additional weapon, therefore, to counter the proliferation of ungulates, the cause of considerable damage to crops, as well as a real danger to road safety. "With the mobilization of last July in the Region - comments the President of Coldiretti Ravenna Nicola Dalmonte - we had expressed all the concerns of the agricultural world for the difficult management of wildlife, a management that in our province could not make use of a specific control for wild boar, the main cause of damage in the countryside.
Therefore - continues the President - the prompt response of public bodies, from the regional council that has opened to the possibility of self defense, to the Province of Ravenna which quickly dismissed the control plan, a fundamental tool to stem the proliferation of wild animals ". In order to illustrate the implementation procedures to the members, Coldiretti requested and obtained the collaboration of the Provincial Police that yesterday evening, in the presence of Commander Lorenza Mazzotti and the President of ATC RA3 Nicola Grementieri, publicly presented the experimental guidelines of theself-defense institute for the farmers of Casola Valsenio, Riolo Terme and Brisighella, the areas of the Faenza area where the presence of wild boar is strongest.
Hoping for maximum cooperation from farmers, the Provincial Police recalled that there are no time / day limitations to implement self-defense as long as the owner or tenant of the fund requests theactivation of the plan to the Provincial Police Corps and the authorization to leave within the previous 24 hours. The request can be sent via a simple email to the address [email protected]. If the farmer (or the employee or the family member) does not have the necessary authorizations (hunting license), it is possible to contact the local coadjutors (usually belonging to ATC teams), or request the intervention of the Provincial Police directly.
Equally important, Commander Mazzotti reiterated, is the reporting of the killing, with the heads that must be transferred to the nearest meat control center for all health checks (even more essential in light of the swine fever emergency). After the checks, the fauna remains at the disposal of the killer (by way of reimbursement of expenses). “Already thanks to the control plan, che as ATC we immediately tried to implement in the form of collective hunting even within the protected areas, the so-called 'sponge areas' where wild boars tend to gather - added Grementieri - we have achieved excellent results, now with theself defence we have a new tool, which gives us more possibilities than selection hunting and which also allows us to go inside wildlife farms.
In this experimental phase - reaffirmed the ATC President, recalling the members of the agricultural and hunting organizations present to the utmost attention - it is important that procedures are followed to the letter and rigorously implemented because making a mistake now would mean nullifying the great work done and the achievements achieved ". "In a historical phase severely marked first by the pandemic and then by international tensions, with heavy repercussions on the economy and on the balance sheets of businesses and households - he says Ahasuero Zampini, Director of Coldiretti Ravenna - even the defense of crops, indeed, of the single grain of wheat, becomes of vital importance. In this sense, the new tools obtained also thanks to the trade union action of Coldiretti, they go in the right direction, that of protecting the work and investments of our farmers who are the heritage of our communities ".
