Change of location
Back in 1816, Eliphalet Remington & Sons was founded in Ilion, in the American state of New York. Over two centuries have passed and what it currently is is the Remington Arms made a controversial decision in relation to this historic venue. The factory was closed to allow the arms and ammunition manufacturing company to move to Georgia.
Financial difficulties
The last few years have not been the easiest for the stars and stripes company. There has often been talk of financial difficulties, as demonstrated by the two bankruptcy petitions and the lawsuit brought by the parents of the 20 children killed in 2012 following the "Sandy Hook" elementary school massacre.
Regulations and layoffs
Georgia's legislation, which is much more favorable regarding weapons, was fundamental for the move, while New York's is among the most restrictive of all. Now, however, a problem of no small importance arises, namely the layoffs in 2024 which could concern Ilion employees, as reported in recent days by the American unions.
