The ministers involved
The Presidents of the Hunting Associations that identify with the Hunting World Control Room together with the CNCN have addressed the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests Francesco Lollobrigida, regarding the implementation status of EU Regulation 2024/1991 – National Plan for Nature RestorationIn the letter, the Cabinet reiterates its concern for the hunting community, deeming the Plan a "unique and unrepeatable opportunity to intervene decisively in the restoration and conservation of our territory, particularly in the most degraded environments."
Worries
At the same time, however, the associations lament the lack of consultation with the various stakeholders, as expressly required by EU Regulation 2024/1991, in drafting the plan itself. "We are particularly concerned," the signatories write, "by the Plan's drafters' decisions to envisage restoration interventions exclusively in protected areas, as this excludes many national areas that require greater urgent restoration interventions, such as agricultural areas." They then add other critical issues and limitations contained in the Plan that risk undermining all or part of the efforts and achievable results.
Comparison table
For this reason, after highlighting the role that hunting and wildlife management can play in achieving the objectives set, the Steering Committee calls for "the establishment and launch of a 'Conference Table for the National Nature Restoration Plan' as soon as possible. This will allow the main national stakeholders involved to participate, allowing us to provide technical input as stakeholders and present our proposals to the Plan."
