La Festival of the Osei is the oldest ornithological event in Europe, which takes place in the historic center of Sacile every first weekend of September. Born as a poultry and bird-hunting equipment market, today the Sagra dei Osei is an event where history, culture, environment and tourism intertwine. The 2024 edition, number 751 to be precise, has not yet begun but it is already being talked about in a special way.
Mass protest
In fact, following the irregularities found by the Carabinieri Forestali in the detention of some birds in Annone Veneto and their seizure, the breeders are threatening a mass protest, claiming that they want to chain themselves during the festival itself.

As reported in an article in the Messaggero Veneto today, August 28, Lorena Bin, President of Pro Sacile, commented on the situation as follows: "Checks on compliance with the rules and the regularity of the conditions of the birds must be done, but without creating conditions of tension. The breeders are ready to protest, we will see if on Sunday they will activate with a flash mob chained together".
