La San Marino Hunting Federation has decided to reply to the satirical news Strip The News and to the envoy Edward Stoppa for a report that aired four days ago. The title of the service was "Poachers in San Marino", considered by the association clearly erroneous and misleading, as well as offensive. The Federation recalled how the hunting calendar of the Republic of the Titan allows to take wild species that are not huntable in Italy, while there are prohibitions for sedentary and migratory fauna subject to withdrawal in our country.
As can be read in the note: "The Republic of San Marino does not allow hunting activities to a greater number of species than Italy or other European countries (as instead you want to believe), but allows, guaranteeing their conservation of the respective populations, the taking of some different species, and this also in consideration of the environmental and morphological characteristics of its territory and of the species of fauna present there, exactly as it happens in all continental countries and in the world; for example, within the borders of France, species that are protected in Italy are hunted (some species of waders and geese, the Colombella, the Tordela, etc.) and the same can be said for Spain, Greece, England and so on for all other countries; therefore, for example, the hunting of one of these species to be considered illegal in Italy, is legal allowed when they cross the Italian-French border, and this happens in compliance with European and international regulations ".
Furthermore, it should be added as: “In order then at dates of opening and closing of the hunt in the territory of the Republic of San Marino it should be noted that these are borrowed from those established by the Hunting Calendar of the Marche Region (the Italian Region that provides cards for hunting in Italy to San Marino hunters) and therefore respect not only the laws in force on the subject in the neighboring Italian State, but also the provisions contained, in this regard, in the European Directives, in addition to avoiding peaks in hunting pressure in San Marino, and conversely in the Italian neighboring regions by San Marino hunters ".
The San Marino Hunting Federation also considers it extremely important to highlight that the Wildlife Observatory and its Habitats, together with the Presidents of this one who have succeeded each other over the years, has always worked in the interest of all San Marino citizens to dealing with various environmental issues, working for the preparation of extremely important regulations for the protection of San Marino fauna and flora. The San Marino Federation of Hunting, reserving every legitimate action to protect the honor of hunters citizens, concludes by highlighting an aspect that goes beyond hunting issues, but which is considered extremely important and vital for a country, namely that relating to the value of borders and own sovereignty as a state, insofar as, in the Service, to feel the Republic of San Marino defined as a "small state" which does not adequately consider European and international regulations, when objectively this is not the case, it is considered to be offensive for all San Marino citizens.
