A non-binding opinion but which unfortunately often weighs heavily. L'ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) said no to the request of the Agricultural Studies Center of Sardinia to extend the wild boar hunting. An extension with the only system of the joke, until February 13, including 2 Sundays (6 and 13 February) and only one Thursday (10 February) compared to the closure scheduled for Sunday 30 January. This was the proposal put forward by Tore Piana, president of the Center for the Regional Councilor for the Environment.
Piana had formulated the hypothesis in this way: "In the whole regional territory there are numerous damages to agriculture and significant loss of agricultural production caused by the high number of wild boars. We also witness frequent road accidents, with serious danger for the safety of citizens and the significant impact on public budgets for the sums due as compensation, as wildlife is a public heritage.
Today the wild boar population is in imbalance with other species e this creates enormous problems of coexistence and preservation of wild species found in nature, says Piana. "Only by prolonging the hunt can we be able to reduce the number of wild boars and not with the selection hunt, as we are trying to start today, which only kills a negligible number of wild boars compared to those who break down in collective hunts. For these reasons, I ASK the Regional Councilor for the Environment to resolve in favor of extending the wild boar hunt, after calling the Regional Wildlife Committee and opinion to ISPRA ".
