Peculiar behaviors
The "Friends of Scolopax" association has provided new updates on the project "Scolopax Overland" which has reached its fifteenth year of activity: “The study of migration contributes to understanding the dynamics that occur in animal life at different seasonal times. In light of long-term observations, it is clear that long-distance migratory movements are sometimes characterized by unique behaviors associated with individual animals.".
Stops and returns
"From a more careful analysis of the recorded data today, it appears unequivocal also for the "Valentina" woodcock the ability to recover geographical information on places visited in past periods and to return and stay punctually for temporary stops in the same areas during the migration journey.".
Unpublished information
"Just a few days after the previous observation (Trabucco), another woodcock, Valentina, provides us with a snapshot of its life that demonstrates the value of scientific research on this species. The graphic fully and exhaustively highlights what was recorded. The preciousness of this equipped male woodcock in its first winter allows us to absorb important and previously unseen information useful for understanding the species.".
