Request and response
The hunting federators belonging to the Catania Provincial Section of Federcaccia promptly responded to the request made by the Wildlife Hunting Department to support wildlife technicians in monitoring wild rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus).
The activities carried out
In the agricultural, forestry, and pastoral area under the jurisdiction of the Catania Regional Wildlife Refuge, the following personnel took to the field: Francesco Bucolo, Giuseppe Scandurra, and Antonio Rao, representing ATC CT1, used 4x4 off-road vehicles and swiveling headlights to navigate the trails indicated by the technicians at night; Giovanni Politino, Roberto Politino, and Francesco Spinello, also navigated the trails indicated by the technicians at night; and Benedetto Di Martino, the contact for ATC CT2, supported the technicians in the afternoon by counting fecal pellets at the previously established monitoring stations. Giuseppe Scandurra, Provincial Councilor with responsibility for general affairs, coordinated the operations throughout the Province.
Protection of hunting policies
Provincial President Nello Di Bella was in constant contact throughout the operation, congratulating the personnel involved and emphasizing that, once again, Federcaccia Catania is ready to respond to any type of event that occurs in order to protect hunting policies that respect the environment for the benefit of hunting and hunters.
