Defense of livestock farming
"I have introduced a bill to prevent and combat the damage caused by wild fauna . The goal is to provide the Region with more effective tools to protect agricultural and livestock farms, increasingly affected by the uncontrolled proliferation of deer and wild boar, which put crops, production, and investments at risk." This was stated by Vincenzo Figuccia, Lega MP and Quaestor in the Sicilian Regional Assembly, who a few days ago participated in a technical roundtable at the Regional Department of Agriculture, attended by numerous farmers and breeders.
Beyond the regional tender
The measure complements the regional call for proposals for the construction of protective fencing and represents a further step forward in ensuring concrete and structural interventions to support farmers and livestock breeders.
A first contribution
"This is a battle I've been waging for years, especially for the Madonie region, and I will continue to support it until adequate responses are provided to those who live and work in our countryside," Figuccia added. "We know that the call for proposals represents an initial contribution to supporting businesses, but we also know that much more remains to be done to combat the phenomenon of wild boar damage. It is essential to preserve the sacrifices of the many breeders and farmers who work the land every day and who, along with so many other residents of the Madonie, live in an area that has been carrying on this cry for help for years."
