Two months after approval
With precautionary order no. 409, published today, July 11, 2026, the Veneto Regional Administrative Court, Section IV, following an appeal by the associations Lega Abolizione Caccia, LAV, LIPU, ENPA, and LNDC (represented by lawyer Claudio Linzola), suspended certain parts of the regional hunting calendar for the 2026/27 hunting season, approved last May 13 by the Regional Council.
What was contested
In particular, the administrative judges have suspended parts of the Veneto hunting calendar where:
– hunting of thrushes (song thrush, redwing, fieldfare, blackbird) from a hide was authorised in the province of Vicenza for more than three days a week in the months of October and November 2026;

– hunting of skylarks from a hide was authorized throughout the region for more than three days a week in the months of October and November 2026.
The TAR has also scheduled the hearing on the merits of the case for November 26, when other aspects of the appeal will be addressed, including the closing date for hunting redwings and fieldfare, the validity of the studies produced by the Veneto Region to support the calendar, the use of lead ammunition, and the appropriateness of the opinion of the National Wildlife Hunting Technical Committee.
