Hunting and Fauna: in Teglio, in the province of Sondrio, a hunter killed a wild boar that beats all records, the weight of the animal even reaches 230 kilos.
In the province of Sondrio, in Gema above the town of Teglio, last Monday a selecacciatore delegated by the Province for the selection of wild boar hunting in the provincial territory, managed to shoot down a specimen with a record weight of 230 kg; when he recovered the animal, the hunter probably did not believe his eyes, it is perhaps a record catch in Italy. The average weight of wild boars killed in the province of Sondrio is generally around one hundred kilograms, this can suggest that probably not it is a typical specimen of the Italian territory as usually the Italian wild boars do not reach similar dimensions.
The selection hunt for wild boar in the territories of Valtellina and Valchiavenna is now a necessary act to safeguard the crops from the enormous damage caused by these animals introduced years ago; for this reason, special hunting teams operate on the territory in question, made up of about fifteen hunter-selecontrollers who, at the first reports of the presence of wild boars near the cultivated areas, intervene to prevent any damage.
