More 13 heads and the maximum limit of deer set for the selection hunting on the Colmen, an area that is part of the municipal territory of Duty (in the province of Dazio). The culls have so far served to reduce the problems of this part of Lombardy, as also underlined by Enrico Marchesini, number one of the hunters of the Lower Valley. There will be shortly trips in the area from other alpine areas, in order to control the ungulates until the next 1 December.
The deer population has reached worrying dimensions, so much so that the Province has been forced to partially modify the fauna plan with this selection hunt. Marchesini himself remarked, in particular, how there have been no more road accidents since the start of the killing, a result not to be overlooked.
These killing are only allowed every Thursday and now have lasted for over a month: the next appointments will be those of November 24 and December 1, days to which they will be admitted again licensed hunters who have passed specific tests. The deer will not be decimated and will continue to live on the Colmen, a clarification made several times in recent times: their numbers will become more compatible with the environmental needs of the area.
