The latest changes
On the proposal of the provincial councillor for Agriculture and Forestry, Luis Walcher, the Provincial government approved, in the session of Friday 7 November, two amendments to the Implementing Regulations relating to the rules for the protection of wild fauna and the practice of hunting.
Future provisions
The substantial change, explains Councilor Walcher, concerns daily and weekly hunting permits, which will no longer be granted to hunters not residing in South Tyrol. "This has always been a highly criticized point," the councilor emphasizes, referring to the fact that "bird hunters from outside the province were authorized to hunt in South Tyrol." The provisions are now extended to include the killing of a greater number of wild bird species, and in the future, they will cover not only fowl, but all so-called "game birds."
Annual withdrawal planning
Another change involves faster recording of game taken in the digital harvest database: an important tool for monitoring operations and also the basis for preparing the annual harvest plan. Registration must be completed within ten days, and this will also apply to hunting trips in private reserves (source: Province of Bolzano).
