Decree frozen
Following an appeal filed by LAV (Anti-Vivisection League) and other associations, the President of the sixth section of the Council of State has suspended the decree by which the President of the Province of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher, had authorized the culling of two wolves in Val Venosta.
The thought of LAV
This is the opinion of the animal rights association: "We are very happy with this result, which allowed us to save the life of a wolf, but at the same time we are deeply indignant because the other convicted wolf has already been killed."
The August precedent
Something similar happened on August 6th, when the Bolzano Regional Administrative Court temporarily suspended the permit granted by the Provincial President for the cull. It's worth noting that both the Provincial Wildlife Observatory and the National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) expressed a favorable opinion on the cull of two wolves.
