Everything is ready for the ninth edition of "Hunting with the hawk", event scheduled for Sunday 7 February at the “San Fiorano” wildlife-hunting farm in Cagli (province of Pesaro Urbino). The traditional and suggestive appointment was organized by "Lo Strozziere" Falconry Club di Fermignano and the local section of Enlcaccia, obviously without forgetting the important collaboration of Benelli Arms, Franchi and Montefeltro Tour Operator of Urbino. What is planned for next Sunday? The event will start at 8:30 am and will allow falconers from all areas of our country to participate in an ancient and legendary hunt. Among the main attractions there is undoubtedly the presence of some of the best specimens of falcon, namely Girifalchi, Sparrowhawks, Pilgrims, Hybrids, Kestrels and Goshawks.
The exhibition of the birds will take place using the techniques of low and high flight, all in the Maiano plain, a real environmental pearl of the Pesaro hinterland, as well as a practically immaculate agricultural area. This edition will also be special for the service provided by Sky channel 235 (“Caccia e Pesca”) will dedicate specifically to enrich the “Let's go hunting” series by Bruno Modugno, even if there will be other highly respected specialized partners.
The goal of this hunt in Cagli is to revive an art form that dates back to the mists of time, that is when dogs and hawks were the undisputed protagonists of spectacular jokes, with the capture of game that represented only a marginal part of the whole show. It is therefore a meeting of connection between the past and the present to make rediscover an ancient and noble way of hunting, now forgotten but widely spread and practiced by our ancestors.
The fact that it was forgotten, however, did not prevent theUnesco to recognize falconry as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The request was made by eleven European, African and Asian countries. In particular, the ancient tradition has been recognized to falconry (over 4 thousand years) and the status of natural activity, as the hawk and the prey evolved at the same time over millions of years.
According to Unesco, falconry is fascinating because it shows how nature works and poses an intellectual challenge to the falconer in his understanding of behavior, which is why a very strong synergy with the bird is needed. The 2016 edition, therefore, is embellished with this prestigious award which will surely have adequate space in a few days in Cagli.
