Full management team
The 70th Extraordinary National Assembly of the Italian Parliament, opened with a greeting from the National President Massimo Buconi and the nomination of Luca Agnelli, Provincial of Milan and Monza-Brianza, as President of the Assembly, is in full swing. Italian Federation of Hunting, the first occasion since the Association's 125th anniversary, celebrated last July at the Chamber of Deputies, brings together the full leadership, from the Presidential Council to the Regional and Provincial Presidents, from those of the Sectoral Associations to the institutional bodies represented by the Board of Auditors and Arbiters. The agenda is dense and challenging, as one might expect from a Federation that is not limited to being a "hunters' union" or a license distributor, but rather addresses a broad range of issues and problems on a daily basis, covering the full range of management, political, and social aspects of hunting, the land, and the environment.
The president's report
All of this is acknowledged in the President's report, the heart and main focus of the Assembly. In addition to reviewing the activities and key milestones of this year's work, it delves into the hottest topics on the table: from the update on the implementation of the draft revision of Law 157/92 to the responses provided by the Federation, both alone and with its main hunting partners, to the disinformation campaign by the Capellino/Almo Nature Foundation, from the presentation of our own bill against social hatred expressed towards hunters and hunting, to projects already underway or in the process of being finalized, aimed at further enhancing the role of hunters in society and within institutions, such as seminars on agrivoltaics, the Nature Restoration Law, and others, conducted with the involvement of experts, technicians, and the political and agricultural worlds. To provide a framework for these aspects, the Assembly hosted a session dedicated to comprehensive presentations by members of the Studies and Research Office. Michele Sorrenti, the Office's Scientific Coordinator, spoke on "Species subject to adaptive harvesting and management plans," highlighting both risks and opportunities. Daniel Tramontana presented the results of the LIFE Perdix Project.
The budgets to be approved
Antonella Labate outlined the programs and initiatives undertaken by Fondazione Una with the support of Federcaccia volunteers, while Valentina Morsiani and Francesco Calabretta of Marsh presented various aspects of the 2024 Social Report. This report focuses on the Federation's activities, quantifying and highlighting the local commitment of our chapters and members to management, environmental, and socially beneficial goals, and their economic value to society as a whole. Naturally, attention was also given to compliance with various statutory obligations, including the approval of the 2026 Budget by the Assembly, and aspects related to the organization and functioning of the Federal structure. The ceremony will continue with the presentation of the "Hunter of the Year" and "President of the Year" awards, which are intended for those who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to wildlife and hunting, the environment, ethics, or social issues, setting a positive example for society of the Federation's work and the role of the hunter, and for those managers who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to the association. A mention and recognition will also be given to the members of the team that represented Italy with excellent results at the recent World Dog Championships held in Poland (source: Federcaccia).
