A unique initiative
Bovegno and Collio hosted the debut of a unique initiative dedicated to younger generations and the protection of rural heritage. First-year classes from the Middle School attended the project's first lesson. “The biodiversity of the snail”, an excellent educational program sponsored by the provincial section of Federcaccia Brescia.
A meeting between theory and practice
Under the expert guidance of exceptional teachers, the students immersed themselves for two hours in a dynamic workshop that combined scientific knowledge with manual skill. Leading the students on this journey were multiple snail-calling champion Camillo Prosdocimo, who demonstrated the secrets of the art of calling, along with Federcaccia Provincial Councilor Romano Bregoli and Professor Silvia Luscia, President of the Bovegno FIDC Section.
The secrets of local avifauna
During the session, each student received a personal birdcage to practice specific calling techniques for song thrushes, redwings, and blackbirds. The lesson was not limited to practical exercises, as a key part of the meeting was dedicated to the theoretical study of birdsong and their ethological habits. This proved to be a valuable opportunity to promote ethical hunting, understood as an environmental education tool that teaches respect for avifauna and the preservation of local traditions.
Project objectives
The initiative, born from the synergistic coordination between Federcaccia and the teachers of the participating schools, aims to transform students into aware sentinels of the territory. Through the rediscovery of an ancient art like that of the snail, the children learn to recognize the biodiversity that surrounds them, developing a deep and respectful connection with the nature of Val Trompia (source: Federcaccia Brescia).
