Before the Council of State
Today, Friday 10 October 2025, the Council of State confirmed the suspension of some parts of the 2025-2026 hunting calendar for Veneto, rejecting the appeal by Federcaccia, which had filed an appeal following the ruling by the Venice Regional Administrative Court (TAR) on September 5th.
The situation in a nutshell
In short, the judiciary has set these limits:
- Hunting ban in mountain passes affected by the passage of migratory birds
- 50% reduction in the daily and seasonal bag for the lark
- Suspension of the game bag for the pochard
The next steps
The animal conservation appeal to this effect was filed by LAC, LNDC, LAV, LIPU, and OIPA. The appeal's merits will now be heard until November 27th, when the issues relating to redwings, gadwalls, mallards, and moorhens will be examined in more detail.
