Ecosystem balance in danger
The fight against invasive alien species in Lombardia The project is entering an operational phase. The Directorate General for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, together with the Directorate for Land and Green Systems, has announced the opening of registration for the first training courses dedicated to training control operators. The goal is as ambitious as it is necessary: the eradication or containment of species that threaten the balance of local ecosystems, with particular reference to the sacred ibis and non-native squirrels such as the grey squirrel and Pallas's squirrel.
The LIFE NatConnect2030 project
This activity is not an isolated one, but is part of the LIFE NatConnect2030 project. Led by the Lombardy Region and involving 16 other partners, this nine-year action plan (2024–2032) aims to consolidate a strategic network for managing the region's natural heritage. Controlling invasive species is one of the pillars (Task 5.3) for ensuring the survival of native species.
