Councillor Antonini's choices
In the last few hours, the Councillor for Hunting Andrea Maria Antonini has called the regional hunting associations (via video conference) to discuss the first draft proposal of the 2025/2026 regional hunting calendar. Marche. With respect to what emerged in the meeting, without going into detail, it is considered useful to highlight that the other hunting associations (FIDC and ANLC first and foremost) have continued to support, with their usual arrogance, the closures of the Song Thrush, Redwing, Fieldfare and Woodcock on 31 January 2026, without worrying in the least about what this choice will entail. That is, presumably in the last 3 hunting seasons, yet another censure by the administrative justice with consequent closure of hunting for these species between 31 December and 10 January.
Arci Caccia's proposals
It is clear that the negative experiences accumulated in recent years in the Marche with the TAR and the Council of State have not been sufficient. At this point we ask ourselves why they continue to want to crash into an already bloody wall. Perhaps because they have now become associates of that famous guy who, to spite his wife, decided to castrate himself?! The few but wise and essential proposals of Arci Caccia Marche for a safe and acceptable hunting season were the following:
– Woodcock and Turds until 19 January 2026, taking advantage of the decades of overlap foreseen by the Key Concepts through the monitoring data in possession of the Marche Region and aiming for a positive opinion from ISPRA;
– provide for the training/education of dogs throughout the month of January in the scheduled hunting area (so as to allow hunters-dog handlers, in the event of yet another probable reduction in the hunting calendar, the possibility of going out without a gun with their dogs without incurring administrative sanctions);
– allow hare hunting from the third Sunday of September to 7 December with the possibility of taking from dawn to 13:00 (contrary to the request of other associations that ask for closure on 30 November).
Much pessimism
In conclusion, it should be noted that, for now, no one has yet requested exemptions for the Chaffinch and the Mistle Thrush. But we are certain that there is time for possible twists. Perhaps asking for a further "bonus species" in addition to these. The Hawfinch? The Brambling? Or perhaps even the Bee-eater? Who knows. Anything can happen at this point. What can we say? We hope that the Councilor and the Board, unlike last year, will orient themselves towards a proposal for a regional hunting calendar that does not lead to the strong limitations for hunting and hunters that have characterized hunting in the Marche in recent hunting seasons. In the meantime, let's prepare for the worst (source: Arci Caccia).
