I vote in favor
The issue of the hunting ban on mountain passes, which had been imposed due to an excessively and unnecessarily restrictive interpretation of the Birds Directive—unique in Europe— has been resolved with the Senate's approval of the so-called "Mountain" Bill . "With the Senate's favorable vote, Minister Calderoli's bill for the recognition and promotion of mountain areas, containing the amendment permitting hunting in mountain passes, has been definitively approved. This remedy is a uniquely Italian anomaly, as I have stated on other occasions," commented Massimo Buconi, National President of Federcaccia.
The reference to Bruzzone
"A result," he continued, "to which many contributed, but which Federcaccia pursued with tenacity and conviction from the very beginning, and to which our Legal Office made a fundamental contribution, as publicly acknowledged by the Lega MP, Francesco Bruzzone. My heartfelt thanks go to him for his commitment as the first signatory of the decisive amendment presented together with the MPs Raffaele Nevi (FI), Davide Bergamini (Lega), Marco Cerreto (FdI), Maria Cristina Caretta (FdI), Cristina Almici (FdI), and Calogero Pisano (Noi Moderati). Thanks also to Minister Francesco Lollobrigida and Undersecretary Patrizio La Pietra, who promoted the initiative; to Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin for hosting the concert; to Minister Calderoli for his favorable opinion on the inclusion of the amendment; and to all the parliamentarians, in addition to those I have already mentioned, without whom we would not have been able to achieve this goal."
Regulatory clarity
"This is a further step, in full compliance with the Directive and the protection of wild species, towards regulatory clarity and legal certainty, which must also be paramount in hunting matters, which are still too often exposed to ideological interpretations," concluded the Federcaccia President.
