Animal rights petition
The TRGA upholds the Province of Trento's decision and rejects the motion by several animal rights groups to annul the decree to cull two wolves in Lessinia . The case is linked to the numerous predations that occurred at Malga Boldera, considered—as the judge wrote—a prime example of attack prevention.
Two serious episodes
However, the protection measures have not prevented wolf incursions: the last two serious incidents occurred on August 11th and 13th. Hence, the decree to cull two specimens, supported by a positive opinion from ISPRA, in line with the provisions of Provincial Law 9 of 2018.
Fugatti's words
"We welcome the Administrative Court's ruling," commented Maurizio Fugatti, President of the Autonomous Province of Trento. "It recognizes the correctness and seriousness of the measure adopted and, more generally, the approach adopted by the provincial administration. It also represents a sign of confidence for mountain communities, coming after years of ongoing legal battles that have effectively prevented the implementation of effective measures to protect farmers and their animals."
