The resolution of the provincial council
Also 'Trentino Hunters' Association – ACT, in addition to the Trentino Academy of Environment, Forestry and Wildlife (Mach Foundation), will be able to organize preparatory courses for the "expert guide" qualification exam. This is provided for in the resolution approved by the Provincial Council upon the proposal of Provincial Councilor Roberto Failoni. "This measure," the councilor explains, "also grants the Trentino Hunters' Association the right to organize training courses for this important expert hunter, required by the provincial hunting law, who has specific duties of assisting in the culling of certain species in Trentino. This request was made by the association itself, which the Council decided to accept for a series of reasons related to the role performed and the requirements of the ACT." There is also a further innovation introduced by the resolution, as the councilor specifies: the minimum number of participants required for a course to be activated has been removed.
Wildlife management functions
Regarding the decision, the councilor noted that the role of the expert guide is closely linked to the wildlife management functions performed by the Trentino Hunters' Association as the hunting authority. Their identification in Trentino dates back to the mid-1970s, and their role in facilitating proper culling was recognized at the time by the Administration and provincial legislation, which currently mandates the presence of expert guides for chamois hunting and for spring roe deer and red deer hunting.
Necessary requirements
Among the factors considered in the evaluation was the Trentino Hunters' Association's possession of the necessary requirements to carry out the training activity. The Association is a social promotion organization registered in the National Third Sector Register and operates pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 117 of July 3, 2017 (Third Sector Code). Furthermore, its bylaws, in compliance with current legislation, also include training and refresher courses on hunting and wildlife for members and third parties (source: Province of Trento).
