The Malakasa Shooting Range in Athens
The Skeet chapter concluded, the ISSF World Championships 2025 Trap competitions continue. Today, the event, hosted by the Greek shooting range at the Malakasa Shooting Range in Athens, will host official training sessions for the main event, with the athletes completing final preparations before the competition begins. Since Sunday in the Greek capital, the Italian team, led by Technical Director Marco Conti, has been practicing free practice yesterday.
Who will aim for medals?
Trying to race for the 2025 World Championships in the men's category will be Mauro De Filippis from Taranto, who after his silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in Lonato (ITA), is determined to secure what could be the first World Championship title of his career; Massimo Fabbrizi from Monteprandone (AP), already Champion in 2011 in Belgrade (SRB) and in 2015 in Lonato (ITA), and Giovanni Pellielo from Vercelli, who already has four World Championships (Nicosia (CYP) 1995, Lima (PER) 1997, Barcellona (ESP) 1999 and Lima (PER) 2013, ed.) and who with his fifth would become the new record holder in the specialty.
How the race will be structured
The women's competition will include Silvana Maria Stanco from Sturno (AV), who already reached the World Championship podium with a bronze medal in Changwon (KOR) in 2018, Alessia Iezzi from Manoppello (PE), and Valentina Panza from Rose (CS), making her world championship debut. The competition will be held over three days: 50 clays on Wednesday, October 15th, 50 clays on Thursday, October 16th, and 25 clays on Friday, October 17th. On Friday, the top six in each ranking will compete in the finals, scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM Italian time (source: FITAV).
