Protection status
ENPA, LAV, LNDC, WWF, and the Capellino Foundation recently held a press conference in the Senate to call for a halt to the process that would lead to the downgrading of the wolf's protected status, which these associations described as "a decision without scientific or legal basis." The Capellino Foundation's presence, which has risen to prominence in recent weeks for the issue of Almo Nature brand products and its "Nothing Justifies Hunting" campaign, has caused a stir. against which the UNA Foundation has lashed out.
The request to Minister Lollobrigida
What exactly are the animal-environmental groups asking for? The goal is to convince the Senate to adopt a moratorium of at least one year on the downgrading of wolves. A further request has been forwarded to the Ministry of Agriculture, urging it to ensure "the implementation of predation prevention measures, already funded through the Common Agricultural Policy."
Further claims
Then there are three other requests:
- Implement Law 281 of 1991 on the protection of pets and the prevention of stray animals, through a two-year national plan
- Full compensation for damages to farmers
- Launching a public information campaign on ethology and coexistence with wolves
