Strengthened synergy
This is another of the steps foreseen in the planning and in the path of strengthening the activities already implemented by the Madonie Park Authority. In fact, the synergy between the Authority and the Municipalities that are adhering to the containment strategies is further strengthened through the purchase of manhole covers for the fight against swine in addition to that against fallow deer already underway. Commissioner Caltagirone declared himself "particularly satisfied with the serene climate that characterizes our meetings to disseminate the activities. A constructive attitude very different from that of some time ago". "Today - he continues - the citizens of Madonie who have decided to collaborate alongside the Park Authority and the Municipalities, have understood that the promises have become facts and above all operations and the two plans (the one for the containment of swine and the one for fallow deer) that have finally started, will increasingly strengthen the fight against the ungulates present in the Madonie Park to protect biodiversity, agro-forestry-pastoral activities and human safety".
Selection and training
The Polizzi meeting, very well attended and proactive, allowed to illustrate the technical-operational network that is taking shape: 40 manhole covers purchased by the Municipality of Polizzi, 10 by the Municipality of Collesano, which are added to those already in use in Castelbuono and Cefalù, in addition to those of the Madonie Park Authority. In the meantime, the deadline for submitting the application to become selectors for the hunts in the park area has expired. Immediately after the selection of the registered participants, the courses will start and will be held at the Municipality of Isnello. This first round of meetings will end in Castellana Sicula where the destination of the animals for commercial and food purposes will be discussed. In this regard, registrations to the long list for stakeholders are always open.
