Changes to attachments
The Decree of 6 November 2025 of the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security “Amendments to Annexes D and E of the Presidential Decree of 8 September 1997, n. 357 – Canis lupus” was published in the Official Journal number 16 of Wednesday 21 January 2026, which formalises the change in species status in Italian legislation.

Amendments to Annexes D and E of Presidential Decree No. 357 of 8 September 1997
The following amendment is made to Annex D, "Animal and plant species of Community interest requiring strict protection", letter a) "Animals", of Presidential Decree no. 357 of 8 September 1997:
a) the entry relating to the species Canis lupus is deleted.
Other changes
The following amendment is made to Annex E, "Animal and plant species of Community interest whose taking in the wild and exploitation could be the subject of management measures", letter a) "Animals", of Presidential Decree no. 357 of 8 September 1997:
(a) the entry for the species Canis lupus (Spanish populations north of the Douro, Greek populations north of the 39th parallel, Finnish populations within the rangeland management area as defined in paragraph 2 of Finnish Act No 848/1990 of 14 September 1990 on rangeland management, Bulgarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Polish and Slovak populations) is replaced by the following: ‘Canis lupus’.
