On Thursday 13 February theParliamentary Intergroup "Biodiversity, Hunting and Rural Culture" supported by over 130 MEPs, including 29 Italians, who had already pledged to support the hunting world before the European elections. The presidency went to Alvaro Amaro, Portuguese parliamentarian of the EPP, while Italy enters the board obtaining the Vice-presidency of Marco Dreosto, from Friuli, member of parliament of the ID - Lega Group.
Hon. Dreosto in his farewell speech said he was honored to have been chosen to cover such an important role "I want to particularly thank the hunting associations who supported me in this process, the FACE and ELO secretariat and the new president Alvaro Amaro "- continues Dreosto -" I have personally decided to give a voice in Europe to the stakeholders and rural culture by involving them personally, organizing events, projects , both in the territories and in the European Parliament, as already done with the support of FACE for the two seminars on African swine fever in Brussels and in Italy ”.
The new Vice-President then concluded by asserting that "In our sector, unity is strength and I believe that never as in this precise historical moment, the EU Parliament has such a large number of elected representatives, willing to change things for the better, for the environment, the protection of biodiversity and the maintenance of rural culture". The “Biodiversity Hunting Countryside” Intergroup was created in 1985 and is one of the oldest and most active platforms for comparison of the European Parliament, promoter and supporter of the role of hunting and other forms of sustainable use of natural resources. In particular, they are addressed issues related to biodiversity, wildlife management, rural development and forestry. Satisfied David Scallan and Thierry De l'Escaille, members of the secretariat of FACE and ELO, who wanted to highlight the high technical quality of the members of the board, representing a strong political signal in favor of key activities for biodiversity in the territories of European states.
