The increase in cases
The list of Italian regions in which at least one case of African swine fever is expanding at a worrying rate. In fact, Emilia Romagna also has to deal with the first ever case of infected wild boar, news that dates back to recent days. What exactly happened?
The discovery of hikers
Two hikers were near Ottone (province of Piacenza), to be precise in the upper Trebbia Valley, and came across the carcass of the ungulate. The people in question then alerted the competent authorities, as required by the state of alert which has been in place for at least two years.
Confirmation of the infection
The animal was taken care of by the AUSL veterinarians, who collected it and conducted all the necessary tests. A few hours ago the results arrived that do not make us sleep peacefully: swine fever was no longer a simple hypothesis, but a concrete reality that will have to be dealt with.
