The first edition of the Falconry Expo – Falconry Fair in Rome ended on Sunday 13th July with an exceptional turnout of visitors. ViadanaThe event, which attracted not only enthusiasts but also numerous curious onlookers, proved a true triumph, livening up the weekend in the Arena Spettacoli and the picturesque Baden Powell Park. Organized by the Gruppo Falconieri Italiani in collaboration with Arcicaccia Nazionale and Fondazione UNA, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Viadana, the Falconry Expo offered a complete immersion in the world of falconry. Visitors had the unique opportunity to meet falcon breeders, observe magnificent specimens up close, and discover handcrafted Italian equipment, from gloves to hoods, the fruit of mastery and tradition. Of particular interest was the presence of a skilled Croatian craftsman, known for his fine gloves destined for niche markets such as the United Arab Emirates.

A fundamental event for the area
The exhibition area was enriched with sportswear and leisurewear stalls, as well as a food offering with several food trucks that entertained attendees throughout the fair. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, which took place on Saturday, July 12, was attended by numerous dignitaries, a testament to the importance of the event for the local area. Those in attendance included Mayor Nicola Cavatorta, Deputy Mayor Alessandro Cavallari, Senator Paola Mancini (FDI), several City Councilors and Assessors, Regional Councilor Marco Carra (PD), Arcicaccia Nazionale President Cristian Maffei, Arcicaccia Lombardia Regional President Ivan Moretti, and the newly elected Provincial President of Mantua Giovanni Carnevali. This significant moment symbolized the unity between the institutions and the involvement of the citizens in an innovative initiative for the local trade fair landscape.
Flight demonstration
The Falconry Expo offered a packed schedule of events enjoyed by both adults and children. These included educational activities for children led by Terre Incantate with Maura Luoni, exciting Retriever performances with Mirko Rizzi and Chicco Arcostanzo, and practical demonstrations on the use of ferrets for rat control. The highly anticipated and spectacular flight demonstration, led by falcon breeder and trainer Leonardo Sciarra, was also a highlight. The ever-lively market offered interesting products ranging from feather paintings to wood carvings and decorations, to equipment and supplements dedicated to animal welfare. The two-day fair was intense, engaging, and full of fun. The Italian Falconers Group expressed its sincere gratitude to the countless sponsors, both local and international, who believed in the event.
