Hunting tradition
The hunting tradition and the sustainable management of the Alpine fauna are once again the protagonists in Kamauz di Frassilongo, where today and tomorrow, in the spaces of the Aquila Nera restaurant, the exhibition of the hunting trophies of the Upper and Lower Valsugana Districts, Piné, Pergine, Valle dei Mocheni, and Tesino. An event that unites territory, culture, and community, highlighting the work of Trentino hunters in wildlife management. The inauguration was attended by Roberto Failoni, Provincial Councilor for Forestry, Hunting, and Fishing, along with Luca Puecher, Mayor of Frassilongo; Matteo Rensi, President of the Trentino Hunters' Association (ACT); Albino Fuchs, Rector of the Frassilongo and Roveda Reserve; Andrea Fontanari, President of the Alta Valsugana Community; and provincial councilors Vanessa Masè and Walter Kaswalder, as well as numerous local administrators from the affected areas, demonstrating the institutions' commitment to the hunting community. In his speech, Councilor Failoni emphasized the social and territorial value of hunting: "Hunting represents a fundamental protection for our mountains and a living part of Trentino's tradition. The Province stands alongside hunters on a journey that combines responsibility, training, and responsible management of the territory."
Not just hunting
The exhibition offers a particularly rich display: hunting trophies from various reserves, historical and contemporary photographs, and opportunities for discussion between hunters, families, and enthusiasts. It's an opportunity to highlight not only hunting activities, but also the role of operators in actively managing the territory and preserving wildlife balance. Councilor Failoni emphasized the importance of the shared work between the Province and the Trentino Hunters' Association: "Our ongoing dialogue has enabled significant progress, such as the ability to organize training courses for expert guides, strengthening the system's skills and quality. We continue to accurately communicate your work: initiatives like this contribute to building awareness and dialogue with the community."
Data from 2025
ACT President Matteo Rensi then highlighted how Kamauz's "management review" showcases the work undertaken in the area over the past year: "Through censuses, we monitor the presence of wild fauna in the area and propose harvest plans to the Province, with a view to species conservation. The data for the end of 2025 confirm a positive balance: in Trentino, ungulates have exceeded 75 individuals, including deer, roe deer, chamois, and mouflon." Frassilongo Mayor Luca Puecher finally highlighted the reserves' active role in the daily management of the area: "Hunting is not just a season, but a year-round commitment. Collaboration with the municipal administration is essential: from black grouse protection projects to restoration interventions and trail maintenance."
