Hunting more than understandable
Lo ibex it was saved thanks to hunting, now the anti-hunters and politicians, fearful of losing votes, seats and chairs, rather than being grateful to the category and the activity that allowed its salvation, and which led to the creation of the Gran Paradiso Park, punish it and punish its practitioners, not allowing the possibility of culling some of them, given that the population has now reached numbers for which hunting would be more than understandable, and also and precisely, and again, in defense of the species and even of its physical health (it is well known how an excess of numbers has often unleashed, in many animal populations, especially artiodactyls, nefarious epidemics).
The truth and the lies
Because this is the truth. The rest is just lies, mystifications, and denials of history. History that, as usual, in our country is adapted to the wishes of interested parties, often stretching it and interpreting it as one wishes! To return to the ibex: in Italy, the rule applies: an endangered and protected species, an endangered and protected species FOREVER; a bit like the wolf and many other animals. Reasonability is always zero. Because in a normal country with a fully-fledged democracy, if a species MUST be protected when it is at risk of extinction, it must also NO LONGER be protected when its numbers have reached and exceeded those tolerable for its habitat and society, according to serious biological and social analyses (today there are already 15 to 20.000 ibex, many of which are perhaps not purebred: but people continue to believe they are few).

A merit that has become a demerit
Therefore, we will have to wait until their overpopulation begins to cause damage to the environmental components of their habitats or to the species itself, before anyone dares to say that a certain number can be culled (which would also generate money that can then be used for better management and protection of their habitats, as Vittorio Emanuele II and then Renzo Videsott did in their time, when, thanks to hunting, it was saved from extinction). Unfortunately, the ibex has the flaw of having survived in Italy, rather than in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, or the USA!
