The controls relating to the African swine fever The Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria, and Valle d'Aosta has revealed four positive cases overall. While Liguria is "accustomed" to these situations, the same cannot be said of Piedmont. The bulletin update is for yesterday, Sunday, January 14, 2026.
The provinces involved
The total number of positive cases in wild boars has risen to 2.149. The number has risen to 818 in Piedmont, and to 1.331 in Liguria. The number of outbreaks detected in pig farms remains stable at 10. In Piedmont, two new positive cases have been observed in wild boars: one in the province of Cuneo, in Cravanzana (the second case); and one in the province of Asti, in Serole (the first case). The total in the region has risen to 818.
A new municipality is added
In Liguria, two new positive cases have been detected in wild boars: one in the province of Genoa (297); one in the province of La Spezia (8 in Calice al Cornoviglio). The total in the region rises to 1.331 cases. With the Serole case, the number of municipalities where at least one positive case of African Swine Fever has been observed rises to 202.
