Wildlife management
The Municipality of Vinci (province of Florence) wanted to shed light on the issue regarding the management of wild fauna through the killing of some pigeons, which occurred in recent days in the countryside in the Petroio area.
Regional law
This is the clarification from the local authority: “The municipal administration has no jurisdiction over wildlife management, whose control is regulated by Article 37 of Regional Law 3/1994 and Article 19 of Law 157/1992. This regional law requires that wildlife control interventions, authorized by the Region, be implemented following damage to agricultural crops and be carried out according to an authorization document that does not require any communication to the municipalities.".
Who carried out the operations
The note adds: “The operations are coordinated by the Provincial Police and carried out by trained and authorized personnel. During operations, as directed by the Region and the Provincial Police, particular attention is paid to compliance with current legislation and public safety.".
