Singular motivations
In Montescudaio, in the province of Pisa, a municipal ordinance provides for a temporary ban on hunting For reasons related to the personal health of a citizen. While fully respecting the health and individual needs of the citizen, Federcaccia Toscana–UCT expresses its grave concern about a measure that risks undermining fundamental principles of law and the general interest of the community.
Clear regulatory framework
Hunting is a legal and strictly regulated activity, carried out in compliance with safety distances, time limits, and legally established periods. In a clear regulatory framework, the interests of the individual cannot prevail over those of the general public.
The role of hunting
This is the point of view of FIDC Toscana-UCT: “We deem the use of a mayoral ordinance that undermines legal certainty and the collective interest to be undesirable. We also recall that hunting plays an essential role in wildlife management, rural protection, and health prevention, as in the case of wild boar control in relation to African Swine Fever. For these reasons, we ask the Mayor and the Municipal Administration of Montescudaio to withdraw the ordinance. In the absence of any response, Federcaccia Toscana–UCT has already instructed its legal department to evaluate the necessary actions.".
