Olympic specialties
In the last days of the second month of the year the FITAV federal calendar enters a particularly busy phase of events, with national and regional competitions that bring together both Olympic and amateur specialties in a single setting.
Propeller Championship
The weekend will kick off with the Winter Propeller Championship, scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Tav Le Cascine (Florence). The single-day event will award the Winter Italian Championships for the orange-and-white target specialty and is open to FITAV members in all categories and qualifications. The competition features 10 propellers for each competitor, with no elimination, and 5+5 propellers "to empty." In the event of a tie for the Winter Champion title, the rules provide for a 10-propeller jump-off, with a possible two-propeller or single-propeller shoot-off, based on the number of athletes involved, should the tie persist. The top three in each ranking will receive prize money and FITAV medals, in addition to a commemorative silver trophy for the overall winners. The Winter Champion will also be offered the opportunity to participate in an international competition as a member of the Italian National Team in 2027.
Other evidence
Between Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st, attention will shift to Umbria, where the first 100-target Sporting Grand Prix of the season will take place, hosted by the TAV Piancardato (PG). The event, which counts towards the National Team selections, must be completed in a single competition day, with participants having the option of choosing between morning and afternoon shifts (with maximum registration limits for each shift). The Grand Prix is open to FITAV members of all categories and qualifications. Any ties will be broken by comparing the series completed on the chosen range, information to be communicated to the Coordinator before the competition begins. Registrations must be received by 3:00 PM on Friday, February 27th, the deadline for notifying the TAV Piancardato organizers of their participation. Prize money and FITAV medals will also be awarded to the top three finishers in each classification. The score obtained is also valid for the purposes of category promotions, according to the criteria published in the dedicated section on the federal website.
Platform specialists
The Winter Regional Championships will also continue nationwide, now in their ninth week. From Friday, February 27th to Sunday, March 1st, 22 venues across 15 regions will bring together specialists in Olympic Trench, Skeet, Compak Sporting, Universal Trench, and Propeller. These competitions, in addition to providing technical competition, continue to promote the sport's most fundamental values, such as respect, loyalty, inclusion, and community spirit. The list of participating clubs, broken down by region and competition discipline, is available in PDF format at the following link: (competitions February 27th - March 1st).
The future protagonists of clay pigeon shooting
Finally, the agenda also includes the Youth Sector. On Sunday, March 1st, the Montecatini Pieve a Nievole (PT) Training Center will host the Winter Individual and Regional Team Championships in Olympic Trap and Skeet, a particularly interesting opportunity to observe the future protagonists of Italian Clay Pigeon Shooting at work. It promises to be a weekend packed with events, showcasing the many facets of our sport through a series of events that promise to offer high-level technical content and a competitive atmosphere that will engage competitors and enthusiasts across the country. It's a chance to spend a weekend with a difference and share, firsthand, the authentic energy of the competition (source: FITAV).
