Prestigious presences
At the TAV Rome, everything is ready for the official start of the Universal Trench World Championship . The Roman facility, located at Via di Lunghezzina 141, was decked out for the Opening Ceremony, when the representatives of the 16 competing nations paraded in the presence of FITAV and ISSF President Luciano Rossi, FITAV Secretary General Mario Magnanini, and Karel Pucalka, a member of the board of FITASC, the International Federation of Shooting with Sporting and Hunting Weapons, delegated by FITASC President Jean-François Palinkas to read the opening statement of the World Championship. Also in attendance were the Honorable Sergio Berlato, president of the Association for Rural Culture, and Giulia Sottoriva, head of CONFAVI (Confederation of Italian Hunting Associations).
50 plates per day
Starting tomorrow, the 374 competing athletes will compete over a distance of 50 clays per day until Sunday, August 3rd, for the 2025 World Championship titles. As usual, the Italian team will be led by Head Coach Sandro Polsinelli. "Participating in a World Championship is always a thrill, but doing so on Italian platforms is priceless," commented the coach from Sora (FR). "The team is ready to perform well. Each of us will give our all, also to live up to the expectations of those family, friends, and acquaintances who will take this opportunity to cheer us on."
The shooters
Under Polsinelli's orders will be Claudio Armiraglio from Busto Arsizio (VA), Stefano Narducci from Altopascio (LU), last year's bronze medalist at the World Championships in Ychoux (FRA), and Niccolò Triglia from Fano (PU) for the Men's Team, Rachele Amighetti from Costa Volpino (BG), Bianca Revello from Bernezzo (VN), both on the podium at the 2024 World Championships for the team silver medal, and Ester Iannotti from Vallo della Lucania (SA) for the Ladies' Team; Luca Baldo Annaloro from Palermo, Simone Boccanfuso from Barano di Napoli and Mario Fabrizi from Frosinone, who won silver in the Team event in France last year, for the Juniors, Massimo Croce from Guidonia (RM), Luciano Fiorini Carbognin from Montecchio di Crosara (VR) and Stefano Pavan from Pogliano Milanese (MI) for the Seniors, Graziano Borlini from Ardesio (BG), who won bronze with the Team at last year's World Championships, Roberto Coppiello from Vigonza (PD), who won individual silver in Ychoux, and Francesco Pollicino from Messina for the Veterans and Mauro Abati from Cesena (FC), Stefano Bocci from Riano (RM), who won bronze with the Team at the French World Championships, and Palmiro Menoni from Maglie (LE) for the Masters.
