Accident: This morning there was a violent explosion inside a private shooting range in Portomaggiore, a municipality in the province of Ferrara. The accident occurred at around 9:30 in the structure located in via Carlo Cattaneo, to be precise on the second floor of a small shed (about 400 square meters).
Shooting range explosion: The blast killed three people and three others were seriously injured from their burns.
Rescuers: Two firefighters who intervened on the spot were also injured due to the collapse of an attic, just as they were trying to put out the fire that developed after the explosion.
Wounded: The three seriously injured and the firefighters were immediately transferred to the hospital. At the moment we can only hypothesize the causes of the accident.
There is insistent talk of a faulty electrical system, but also of an environment saturated with gas, the investigations by the Carabinieri are still in progress.
Latest updates: According to the latest updates from Ansa, the shooting range is owned by a private association and had only been open for a few months. Also, one of the people who were engaged in the shooting reported seeing a blaze on the ground.
Another visitor to the facility spoke of the smoke he noticed as he approached it and of the dust on the ground produced by the shots that had already caught fire in recent months.
