Heavenly place with a “surprise”
It's a jewel nestled in the Dolomites, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but one tourist will always remember Val di Fassa (who knows if he'll ever return) for the curious misadventure he experienced with an animal that is shamefully little talked about. The man was attacked by a grouse encountered on the trail, a not exactly rare occurrence.
Bizarre chase
According to what has been learned, the close encounter occurred along the so-called "path of legends," not far from Pian Pecei. The capercaillie appeared suddenly, and its territorial nature prompted it to chase the tourist, spreading its wings in a threatening manner. It was pecked (more than once) and required medical attention.
Help me
The unfortunate man managed to contact emergency services and the fire department, explaining that the animal was chasing him. Fortunately, the incident ended without any serious physical consequences, but only with a slight scare.
