Too much food
A menu that would make any fine restaurant envious. For too long, the Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park , in the province of Trento, has had to contend with the unfortunate behavior of some visitors when it comes to dealing with the foxes living in the area. The animals, in fact, receive a wealth of food, even the most unimaginable: from slaughterhouse scraps to sausages and—last but not least—biscuits.
The signs on display
In other cases, the now confident foxes are fed by the remains left behind by those who frequented the woods. A few days ago, the park authority decided to take action by posting signs explaining that such behavior will no longer be tolerated, as it risks altering the habits of the various species.
The sanctions in detail
As the signs themselves state, fines range from €90 to €542, also because—among other things—baiting game is prohibited by law. The danger is that confident foxes will then be unable to forage for food independently. Was the message clear?
