After the reports at the end of June 2021 (collected by Muse andAssociation of Trentino Hunters) of a probable reproduction of golden jackal in the bog of Fiavè - already in 2020 a first reproductive event was recorded here -, between the end of December 2021 and the beginning of January 2022, always within the same peat bog, some images were obtained from technical staff employed by the Association that testify with certainty the reproduction of last spring: the maximum number of photo-trapped subjects is 4.
As is well known, the golden jackal has only recently arrived in Italy by natural expansion from the Balkan peninsula, expansion made possible by virtue of the decimation of the wolf culminating here in the second half of the twentieth century. The first reports in Italy date back to the early 80s of the last century, while the first ascertained reproductive event took place in 1985, on the outskirts of Udine. In 1984 the first reports were recorded in Veneto, in the province of Belluno: in 1992 these also affected the province of Treviso.
