La Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, an acronym that brings together the Italian Federation of Hunting, ANUUMigratorists and the Regional Association of Tuscan Hunters, presented in Lucca a study on the consequences produced by the changes envisaged by Protected Areas Law. The text is currently under discussion and the CCT has illustrated to the press the risks associated with such a reform, hoping a rethinking by the Government and the Tuscany Region.
The modification contains aspects that could complicate the management of the fauna and compromise a situation that is in itself already complex, in some cases even dramatic if we look at the control of ungulates. Damage prevention and compensation for farmers are also being questioned. The main complaint concerns the continuous and unhistorical foreclosure against hunting: hunting is allowed in parks all over the world, albeit with strict rules. The CCT is for regulated and controlled hunting. According to the association, a real tsunami is about to hit the Tuscan territory and the hunting world.
In fact, hunters would lose a lot of space and the territory available. The Confederation study has shown that there are 587 ambushes in the contiguous areas e 2000 hunters involved. Then many districts will disappear and others will be downsized. By the way, last season in the affected districts 2019 wild boars were killed, 46% of the total killings in the Lucca ATC. The rethinking and decisive intervention by the institutions, therefore, cannot be delayed any longer.
