And so, almost a month after the order of the Council of State on the Tuscan Hunting Calendar, the Department and the government majority of the Region they "threw in the towel". With a laconic and notarial press release, yesterday evening a phase seems to have ended in which, as we have repeatedly argued, the Tuscany Region could and should have overcome the results of this unjustifiable sentencea with the courage and authority that belongs to it. We and all hunters are certainly not enough certificates of solidarity that the Councilor felt obliged to represent, nor will we be willing to attend the usual blame game on responsibilities.
There is no doubt that the suspension and early closure of the species (Woodcock, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird, Corvidae and Anatidae) is not the result of a will of the Tuscany Region; this does not, however, take away the fact that in this long period of time the company has not done what is necessary to reach a positive solution to the problem. The lack of opinion of Ispra cannot be considered the "lightning rod" of the situation, it is possible to accept it the reasons for a refusal and of a lack on the part of an organ of the State and of the Ministry, which by law must provide opinions, which it was thought to clumsily overcome with a belated, as useless meeting organized with an expired time. The Ispra opinion in fact it had already been previously provided for the drafting of the Hunting Calendar.
An opinion that has not been affected by the order of the Council of State and which would have been necessary again only to justify a possible extension of the hunting times to 10 February; not to reconfirm the times established by the Calendar. And so, instead of proceeding swiftly for the approval of a resolutive resolution or on a possible amendment to the law, we continued to continue on a path without background. The possible choices to be made from a legislative and administrative point of view were and remain the main road that unfortunately has not been pursued. For this, we are forced to have to register a serious defeat not only for hunters, but above all for the politics and credibility of many of its exponents. A wound that can only be healed with the courage and with the necessary actions that even today, if desired, the Regional Council could undertake.
Furthermore, the effects that will be determined by hunting in the ZPS and in other areas where pre-opening did not take place. An urgent and imperative clarification that the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters returns to forcefully ask the Region in order to protect hunters who carry out hunting activities in these areas. As far as we are concerned, we will continue to resist and strengthen the future battle both in the courts (TAR), and for the proposals that we will have to formulate for the next Hunting Calendar, aware that the tear that has been created with politics and credibility of the institutions, will characterize ours future attitude. The "slap" received by the hunters does not involve turning the other cheek. To each their own responsibilities!
