Hunting: Tuscany, for the PD "fauna is a common good, no more prejudices"; the statement by the Hon. Sani, coordinator of the regional secretariat of the PD of Tuscany and Marco Ciarafoni, national manager of biodiversity and wildlife policies of the PD.
"The Lav of Grosseto, using the measure of prejudice, would like to prevent that in some schools in the province, as has been the case for years, children are not educated in the conservation of fauna and good management of the territory only because to organize such a meritorious initiative are the technicians and managers of the Arcicaccia. We hope that no one, least of all those who will be called to decide what to do, will not feel intimidated by a request that is not the result of objective reasoning but dictated only by an ideological conviction.
In this regard, we express our solidarity with the head teacher who has received improper pressure. There are different opinions on hunting. It is legitimate. However, and it should be remembered, hunting is a lawful activity, legitimized by the laws of the State and the Regions and complying with the dictates of EU directives. Moreover, in Tuscany and in the province of Grosseto the regulation of hunting, as everyone knows, takes place in compliance with the indications of the national scientific authority.
However, school children interested in the project promoted by Arcicaccia are not talking about hunting activities but about fauna and conservation and those same boys, it was enough to ask them for an account, they were able to know, face to face, and not only from drawings or photographs, the wild animals that are stationed on the wonderful territories of the Maremma also thanks to the meritorious and voluntary work of the ATC, whose management committees, as everyone knows, are made up of representatives of farmers, hunters and environmentalists. If the territories of the Maremma evoke "life and beauty" in all those who visit them from all over the world, it is because the farmers, hunters, environmentalists together with the institutions that are interested in them do so in the sign of a history, of a culture, of a strong sense of civility that no prejudice or instrumentality can ever break down.
In this context, the Maremma, for what has been done so far, can claim more than other territories to be a community attentive to the theme of "fauna, the common good" in the wake of the joint appeal launched by Arcicaccia and Legambiente and which has received support and sharing by Federparchi, CIA, Coldiretti and Democratic Ecologists. An appeal that, as Pd, we have publicly appreciated with regard to the proposals made, adding that in such a difficult phase for the country it is necessary to privilege what unites and certainly not what divides and generates social conflicts ”.
